VOLUNTEER TUTOR TRAINING SCHEDULE
Literacy & English as a Second Language

SPRING 2008
 
No previous teaching or foreign language experience is necessary to tutor. Our trainings provide volunteers with techniques needed to work one-to-one with an adult. Tutors may choose to work with an adult in the community or at the Bucks County Correctional Facilities.
 
Pre-registration is necessary and a donation of $30 is requested. To register, call 215-345-8322 ext. 103, or 215-968-3484, ext. 103.
 
 

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

Volunteers will learn techniques in language instruction to help non-English speaking adult learners who come from more than 50 different countries. Knowledge of a foreign language is not necessary. 

Doylestown
Vita Education Services, 8 E. Court Street, 2nd floor (no elevator)
12-hour course: Wednesdays, April 2 & 9
9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Newtown
Pennswood Village Board Room, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Road (Route 413)
12-hour course: Saturdays,  March 8 & 15
9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
(Please park in Lot P1 (Visitor Parking)

 

 

BASIC LITERACY
 
Volunteers will learn techniques to help adult learners improve basic reading, writing and math skills or prepare for the GED.
 
Doylestown

12-hour course:  Saturdays, March 29 & April 5
9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
