“The Wholly Spellers” are Repeat Winners at 2009 “SpellCheck Live!!”

“The Wholly Spellers” of St. Andrew’s Church, Yardley, took first place for the second year in a row at  “SpellCheck Live!!”, a not-too-serious spelling bee that benefited the free education programs provided to Bucks County residents by Vita Education Services. The members of the winning team were Alisa Dupuy, Jay Johnston and Carol Mayhew, pictured here.

The “A-Z” Raffle with 26 fabulous prizes rounded out the evening.  The event was sponsored by Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, and hosted by Bucks County Community College, Newtown.

Bucks County Commissioner James Cawley “threw out the first ceremonial word” and Elizabeth Kulick, Assistant Dean for Enrollment Services, Buck County Community College; Dave Bowman, Principal, Pennsbury High School; and Det Ansinn, Board President of Bucks County Free Library served as judges for the spelling bee.

Former Vita Board member John Shanken-Kaye, PhD., was the emcee and pronouncer. The “Vita Bee” was Mariah Praul of Doylestown. Music was provided by French Horn player Danielle Bissert.

Many thanks to our volunteer committee:  Lucy Brennan, Marge Nocton-Barr, Lisa Pretecrum and Carolyn Rosner.
