Since 1971, Vita has provided free, accessible educational services to the educationally disadvantaged, underserved populations in Bucks County. Vita’s quality educational programs help individuals gain skills that enhance their ability to deal with real-life situations, meet personal goals and become more self-determining and self-sufficient.
Literacy Programs
Vita is the lead literacy agency in Bucks County, offering free instruction to prepare adults to function effectively in their roles as family members, employees and citizens. Our programs are designed to improve skills in basic reading, writing and math or help students prepare to pass the GED test, and to help adults improve their English proficiency through English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, including Family Literacy programs. Student success is measured by the completion of core goals and advancement from one educational level to the next.

Decisions is a suite of programs offered in the community, in correctional facilities, and in the workplace. These copyrighted programs include Decisions For Living, Decisions For Teens, and Decisions in the Workplace.
Decisions for Living 
As the largest provider of educational services in the Bucks County Correctional Facilities, Vita serves inmates through our unique copyrighted curriculum, Decisions for Living. The course helps individuals make sound decisions using a logical five-step process and helps prepare them for reentry into the community. Professional staff facilitates men’s and women’s groups and trained Vita volunteers work with inmates one-to-one to teach the process. Professional staff also teach Jobs Readiness, a program developed by Vita which has provided hundreds of inmates with the tools they need to help them find jobs when they are released.

Decisions for Teens
Decisions for Teens is a course designed to teach the decision-making process to middle and high school students. Teens are faced with having to make decisions on a daily basis, the results of which can have life-altering consequences. The fee-for-service course has been offered in many school districts, youth centers and in school suspension and juvenile justice programs.

Workplace Programs
Vita develops customized programs for both improving workplace literacy and managing challenging situations in the workplace. Workplace Literacy programs provide on-site assessment, evaluation and customized literacy curricula and instruction to help improve employees efficiency, effectiveness and productivity on the job. Decisions in the Workplace programs provide staff training using Vita’s copyrighted Decisions For Living model. When applied to workplace situations, this process helps strengthen decision-making and communication skills with the goal of increasing employee job performance, satisfaction and retention.
