Adults interested in Vita’s programs must attend an orientation and registration session to determine eligibility for class. Potential students are selected on the basis of their core goals and the ability to make a commitment to at least five hours of instruction per week for a semester. Core goals include obtaining or retaining employment, getting a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, pursuing further training, entering a post-secondary institution, or learning English to help their children succeed in school.
Students are also expected to work on assignments outside of class. Students need to have transportation and child care arrangements taken care of in order to come regularly for instruction.
